The short version: QuietTrace is a private journaling app. Please use it responsibly, keep your account secure, and remember that your journal entries remain yours.
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the QuietTrace iOS app, Android app, and web application at app.quiettrace.app.
By downloading, accessing, or using QuietTrace, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use QuietTrace.
1. Who may use QuietTrace
You must be at least 13 years old to use QuietTrace. If you use QuietTrace on behalf of another person or organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms for them.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account.
2. Your journal content
You keep ownership of the journal entries, categories, mood tags, and other content you create in QuietTrace. We do not claim ownership of your words.
You grant QuietTrace a limited permission to store, process, and sync your content only as needed to provide the service to you, including displaying your entries in the app and helping you export your data.
You are responsible for the content you create and for making sure you have the right to store it in QuietTrace.
3. Acceptable use
Please do not use QuietTrace to:
- Break any law or regulation
- Upload malicious code or attempt to interfere with the service
- Access, copy, or modify another person's account or data without permission
- Reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or abuse the service
- Use QuietTrace for content or activity that violates the rights of others
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or create risk for QuietTrace, other users, or the service.
4. Privacy and data handling
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and how you can request export or deletion of your data.
QuietTrace does not sell your personal information, does not show advertising in your journal, and does not use your journal content to train machine learning models.
5. App stores and third-party services
If you downloaded QuietTrace through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the store's own terms may also apply to your download, purchase, updates, refunds, and device usage.
QuietTrace uses selected third-party service providers, including Supabase for secure data storage and authentication. These providers process data only as needed to support the service.
6. Payments and subscriptions
QuietTrace may offer free and paid features. Any paid features, subscriptions, free trials, renewals, cancellations, and refunds will be shown clearly before purchase and may be processed through the relevant app store or payment provider.
If a purchase is processed by Apple or Google, refunds and billing support are handled according to that store's policies.
7. Not medical or professional advice
QuietTrace is a journaling and reflection tool. It is not medical care, therapy, crisis support, legal advice, financial advice, or any other professional service.
If you are in immediate danger or need urgent support, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional.
8. Availability and changes
We aim to keep QuietTrace reliable, but we do not guarantee that the service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue parts of QuietTrace from time to time. If we make material changes that affect your use of the service, we will take reasonable steps to notify you.
9. Intellectual property
QuietTrace, including its name, branding, design, software, and service features, is owned by QuietTrace or its licensors. These terms do not grant you any right to use the QuietTrace name, branding, or software except as necessary to use the app.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or create derivative works from QuietTrace unless we give you written permission.
10. Disclaimers and liability
QuietTrace is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, QuietTrace will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunities.
Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.
11. Ending your use of QuietTrace
You may stop using QuietTrace at any time. You can export your journal from within the app and may request account deletion by contacting hello@quiettrace.app.
We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, create legal risk, or misuse the service.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
Continued use of QuietTrace after updated terms are posted means you accept the updated terms.
